Effective Writing through Letters, Emails and Memos

Whether its e-mails, memos, or letters, writing is part of most people’s daily workload. This class will teach you how to create effective and professionally savvy written documents. Learn to: Produce focused paragraphs using bullet points and transitions, Write clearly and concisely, appropriately format and organize letters, Design visually appealing written correspondence, Use a style and tone that matches your intent. You’ll practice writing in the class and receive feedback from the instructor.

The 7 Habits for Managers: Managing Yourself, Leading Others, Unleashing Potential

This will be a two-day (14hrs) workshop with a 1 hour lunch break each day. This workshop focuses on the fundamentals of leading the modern, mobile knowledge worker and provides leadership skill sets, tools and best practices that will enhance work performance. Both new and experienced managers acquire a set of tools to help them meet today’s management challenges, including, prioritization, performance management, execution, collaboration, and team and employee development. This intensive, application-oriented learning experience focuses on the fundamentals of great leadership. It’s a unique, new approach to management development that helps teams move from getting good results to attaining great and enduring results. Several tools are provided for immediate use and impact in the workplace.

The Habits
Habit 1 - Be Proactive: Use your resources and initiative to break the barriers to results.
Habit 2 - Begin With the End in Mind: Make the great contribution you are capable of making.
Habit 3 - Put First Things First: Focus on a few “wildly important goals and track your progress.
Habit 4 - Think Win-Win: Make Win-Win Performance Agreements to motivate superb performance.
Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood: Practice Empathic Listening and give honest, accurate feedback.
Habit 6 - Synergize: Always seek the Third Alternative – the truly creative solution or decision.
Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw: Unleash the potential of your team members by tapping the “whole person.”

Contract Review Training

The course will advise attendees of terms and conditions in contracts that are prohibited by State law, the process for obtaining contract approval from Legal Affairs, and Procurement, if applicable, and State procurement rules. Participants will have a better understanding of Georgia laws and KSU contracting requirements.
